There has been no Postgraduate Dental Facility in the English-Speaking Caribbean and the International Postgraduate Medical College fills this void. The College seeks to provide a superior academic environment for the pursuit of specialist training in Dental disciplines. Indeed, the College has already graduated its first master’s students in Oral Surgery, Maxillofacial Surgery and Implantology and Oral Medicine.
The teaching facilities are at different sites in Jamaica but in the future these sites can extend to other Caribbean territories. The teaching is a mix of didactic and practical clinical exposure, the latter being closely supervised by tutors to ensure quality. Technology allows a wider reach for some modules to be accessed virtually.
The College will provide Symposia and Distinguished Lectures to give further exposure to its students and community outreach projects to ensure that specialists understand that they have a mission to the general community including the vulnerable and disadvantaged. Knowledge must unlock that potential to reach and touch humanity
