Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS)
The Global University of Medical Sciences is now launching a unique undergraduate Dental Program, the DDS Program. This degree program is a five (5) year continuous program which will allow the graduates to be fully proficient as it relates to the principles and practice of Dentistry.
It is expected that during the fifth year, the dental care ability of our expectant graduate will be much higher than that of a house officer. It is all this, together with the advanced technology in our dental school and hospital, that will make this school not only number one in the Caribbean but the global number one.
Our lecturers are at the level of Professors from all over the world. Our curriculum is impeccable and offers not only advanced undergraduate teachings but expensive and expanded teaching of the students for a lower tuition. Students with no science background can be admitted to our dental school once they are prepared to enter into the stream that will enable them to be taught and subsequently examined in the science module called the science prerequisite courses.
Upon graduation, our students will be proficient in the area of orthodontics as much as the orthodontic assistant.
Bachelor of Science in (BSc. ) in Dental Assisting
Recently, our Diploma in Dental Assisting Program have been upgraded to a bachelor’s degree in dental assisting. As far as we know, this is the first Bachelor Degree Program in Dental Assisting in the English-speaking Caribbean and likely to be one of very few globally.
This program is as such designed to give the Profession of Dental Assisting more dignity and confidence and to allow graduates not only to integrate well globally but also to blend easily into further areas of Dentistry. This course is didactic with three semesters annually for two (2) years only.
This adds up to a total of six (6) semesters which is what a three year program will normally add up to.
Doctor of Alternative and Traditional Medicine - Dr. ATM
Our degree in which leads to Doctor of Alternative and Traditional Medicine is to compliment the Science of Medicine and Dentistry and Surgery and also the science and rationale behind the Doctor of Pharmacy Program which the University of the West Indies has recently commenced.
Obviously, ATM is best practiced in collaboration with medical doctors, dentists, nurses, physiotherapists and pharmacists. This is exactly what our Doctor in ATM will allow our graduates to do (collaborative work with the allied Medical Sciences).
This program is the pride of GUMS. and the first of such program in the entire English-Speaking Caribbean and perhaps the entire Caribbean.
Bachelor of Dental Technologist BSc. DT
After observing the program in Dental Technology offered by other institutions, we have developed a four-year program leading to Bachelor in Dental Technology with advanced technology, advanced teaching and reasonable tuition.
Of significance is that after completion of the program our graduates will be able to practice like denturist as seen in Canada and some parts of the world and with proficiency in computerized restorations including implant restoration.
